Reading Reflection No. 2

1) What was the general theme or argument of the book?

I had the opportunity to read The Art of Social Media: Power Tips for Power Users by Guy Kawasaki and it talks a lot about the use of social media and how you can persuade people through social media. It was a very interesting book, I would say, mainly because this book is a lot about how social media could be so beneficial for companies and how to reach a bigger audience.

2) How did the book, in your opinion, connect with and enhance what you are learning in ENT 3003?

I think it was very important to pay attention to the pieces of advice that were given throughout the book. For example, even though there is an important product or service that could be so successful, people have to portray and sell that idea to others and social media is a good tool to communicate this idea to a lot of people. Failure to do so might affect the company's revenue since they do not have many clients. 

3) If you had to design an exercise for this class, based on the book you read, what would that exercise involve?

I would definitely say that they should look themselves up on the internet and they have to submit a link from their LinkedIn as well as their facebook profiles without feeling scared that there are bad things in there. The purpose of this exercise would be to feel confident that their online image is clean and professional. 

4) What was your biggest surprise or 'aha' moment when reading the book? In other words, what did you learn that differed most from your expectations?

I think it was just how nice the book presents the idea of social media. It was very interesting to read the facts of how many people use social media and how it could be so powerful nowadays.
